I am an Accredited Addictions Counsellor NCAC with the FDAP.
I love my work and particularly when I see clients faces start to change – then I know that the process is working and happening! Shifts happen on the inside never on the outside but for me they reflect very subtly on their faces.
One of the most important things that I can do is continue to grow because that allows me the space to give permission for my clients to grow and blossom.
Once upon a time, I worked for a number of years at a leading Treatment Centre where I was Head of Counselling and where I was really like a pioneer in many of the areas that I continued to pursue over the years like food and sex addiction issues.
I loved group therapy and over the years have explored the facilitation of many types of groups from conventional through experiental to didactic to mention but a few!
I have been in private practice for many years and I work from home. I have an incredible space and clients love it. Because of all my years in the field, I now feel confident enough to draw on various modalities as and when I need them – it might be a DBT module here or a body image module there – it’s all about enriching the work and ultimately enhancing the client’s experience.
In 2008 I wrote my autobiography ‘Women Trashed’ which was published by Penguin Publishers in 2009.
My new work ‘People who are addicted to sex’ was released in June 2014.
